The beginning of this week, Welcome to Rockville and other festival pages started sharing cryptic videos. In the videos, and their captions, it states "The page you are trying to access is no longer under admin control. We've been waiting long enough. We've taken matters into our own hands. We will get what we want. This is very simple. You have until October 10th at noon Pacific Time to give us what we want. Otherwise, we'll leak your server access credentials."
At the time the first video was shared, Metallica published a new website Metallicaxx.com (Metallica 20?) that only has a countdown which is to reach zero today. My theory is that Metallica is headlining next year's big festivals, Welcome to Rockville, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and Sonic Temple.
Another thing that leads me to believe this theory is that Metallica wraps up their current tour on April 27th of next year (2020) and Welcome to Rockville starts 11 days later with the last day being 13 days from the end of their World Wired tour. If I remember correctly, Tool did a similar thing when they announced their plans to headline Welcome to Rockville.
But this is only a theory (for now) and only time will tell if we are right in our prediction.
